Special Conference Session to Focus on Emerging Technology-Driven Opportunities for Dealers

It should come as no great surprise to anyone within a 50-mile radius of the office furniture business that the integration of technology is becoming an increasingly important requirement for the effective design and specification of the commercial workspace. It’s important today and it’s only going to grow in importance in the years ahead.

But what does that mean for today’s office furniture dealers? And how can they position themselves to maximize any new business potential that technology offers them?

WPF members will have the opportunity to explore those questions in depth during a special presentation at the association’s upcoming annual conference that will feature Jim Scheer, president of Innovative Technology Group and a 20-year veteran of the technology business.

Innovative Technology Group is a wholly-owned subsidiary of WPF member Color Art Integrated Interiors in St. Louis and for the past 16 years, it has provided technology solutions for Color Art clients and others that run the gamut from videoconferencing and other AV applications to sound masking, digital signage and more.

In his presentation, titled “Smart and Connected Spaces,” Scheer will focus on the integral role that technology plays in today’s offices and the need to design space in a way that supports the technology-intensive, collaborative work styles that are becoming increasingly widespread.

“The dramatic changes we have seen in the office in recent years have created some significant challenges—from a sound management standpoint and a video standpoint—but they’ve also created some equally significant opportunities for progressive dealers,” says Scheer.

“Technology is exciting but my major focus at the WPF meeting will be on the business side of the equation and the ways dealers can use what’s happening in the technology world to drive new dollars to their bottom lines.”

Scheer promises a highly interactive, collaborative session in San Antonio that will offer dealers a solid framework to evaluate the technology opportunity in their own markets and provide some informed guidance on how they can make the most of it.
